This fearsome fellow is Barong - the Spirit King in Balinese mythology.

Part lion, part dog, all badass mystical being, he represents the spiritual forces of good, battling the evil witch Ragda in the eternal struggle of Good vs. Evil.
The Balinese believe that every child is accompanied by a Banas Pati Raja, sort of a guardian angel spirit, which watches over them throughout their lives.
Barong is the mythical avatar of this protective spirit, and the story if him defeating Ragda and restoring cosmic balance is celebrated in traditional dances featuring fantastic costumes and elaborate masks. These specially-crafted masks are considered sacred objects infused with spiritual power.

This original design, inspired by traditional Indonesian art, is etched in copper, hand-cut, formed and antiqued with permanent metal inks in deep indigo blue.
Pendant measures 3.25" wide by 2.5" tall.

The copper has been sealed to prevent tarnishing and skin discoloration.
